Sleep Consultations

For Families in Berlin & Beyond

Many parents are worried that their little one is not getting enough sleep, not achieving quality sleep, or not sleeping at the right times.

Throughout my years working first as a nanny, and then as a postpartum doula, I quickly learned the one universal topic at the forefront of every parent’s mind is: sleep… or lack thereof!

Having Keatyn's support in the first weeks of birth has been invaluable.

Baby Sleep Consultations

My approach to sleep consultations focuses first on reaffirming the parent’s intuitive wisdom and enduring desire to respond empathetically and reliably to their baby’s needs. With this as the foundation, we work together to build healthy sleep for the entire family.

With an ever growing list of “experts” who contradict each other with opposing (and often scientifically unfounded) facts and meticulous guidelines to “fixing your baby’s sleep,” exhausted parents often end up feeling confused, inadequate, and more frustrated with the situation. They also find their intuition screaming and heart breaking when it comes time to leave their baby alone to cry in the crib while following the strict “sleep training” guides.

I help you with
  • One-on-one visit it in your home (in person or virtually)
  • Space to share your individual story, concerns, and questions
Insight on baby’s sleep patterns and needs from a neuroscience perspective
  • Education on the ties between baby’s physical, cognitive, and emotional development and their changing sleep needs
  • Exploring expectations and creative solutions to helping every family member get restful sleep
  • Recognition of potential medical red flags which might be negatively influencing sleep (and local referrals to other practitioners)
  • Support with setting up safe sleep location/s in your home
  • Connecting you to other families following a similar parenting approach through meet-ups and a private online group

Sleep

Many sleep training approaches, even ones marketed as “gentle,” tend to forget one simple fact: each baby is a unique individual with a wide range of physical, cognitive, and emotional needs. As an infant is unable to meet any one of their needs on their own, the parent (or trusted care provider) is the only source of physical comfort, emotional regulation, sense of safety, and source of food. The parent’s brain and heart are hardwired to willingly offer these necessities to their baby, but when they are inundated with pressure to follow arbitrary the rules and guidelines of sleep training, instead of their baby’s cues and individual needs, these wires become unraveled.
